When started here at Sanctum 3 years ago I could not walk up or down stairs with out holding on to a rail. Due to 3 scopes on my knees. I hadn’t been able to exercise for 5 years because of the pain. So I joined Sanctum CrossFit (call me crazy) and with their great coaches and great classmates instructing me and encouraging me I can now do complete workouts 6 days a week! Great People, you will feel like part of the family on the first day!

It’s hard to put into words how incredible this place truly is. Sanctum is more than a box, it’s our family, our community, our playground, our place of sanity. It is my favorite play place. The owner Mike makes everyone feel so welcomed. I started crossfit at 47 years old and was intimated. I learned that I can scale my workouts and increase my weights when I’m ready. I workout with total beasts who cheer me on, on my accomplishments. All the coaches are professional and enthusiastic! I love Sanctum!

This CrossFit gym blew me away. Having lived all across the country looking for CrossFit gyms I have to say this is the #1 or 2 gym I’ve ever been to. I’m very glad I was able to attend this gym for the month I was there.

What sets this gym apart from the rest is the welcoming staff and community who will take the time to integrate you into the fold. Before every workout the group joins together, new people are introduced, and the group prays over each other and the workout to come.

During the workouts the staff have safety in mind. They will always come and politely correct your form, offer scaling options, and alternative exercise while pushing you to do your best.

The programming seems to be very thoughtful with good load progressions that prevent you from getting overloaded throughout the week. The equipment is well maintained and the facility is always clean

The staff, welcoming community, eye for safety, equipment, and programming make this the best choice for gyms in North Dallas.

MATHIES LONG

COACH

Mathies Long is a CF-L1 certified coach who has a passion for coaching. A passion that shows not only inside the Crossfit gym but in his personal life as well where he works as a High School Teacher and Wrestling coach for Frisco ISD. As a kid, Mathies always knew that he wanted to be around sports in some shape or form, whether it was playing, athletic training, or coaching. 
Coaching has allowed him to make an impact on the lives of all those that he has coached whether it be via Crossfit, wrestling, or in the classroom. To him coaching is more than just watching people hit PR’s or teaching kids how to do a double-leg takedown, but it’s about building those relationships with those individuals. One quote that has stuck with him since he was started coaching is by President Theodore Roosevelt who said “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”Mathies was introduced to Crossfit by a friend, not too long after he moved back home from college. After walking on and playing football collegiately at Oklahoma State (Go Pokes!), Mathies needed something to fill that competitive void, and lifting on his own at the gym wasn’t working. Crossfit not only filled that void but has opened so many doors for him and introduced him to a wide variety of people from all aspects/backgrounds of life. Crossfit has allowed Mathies to push himself to see what his body is truly capable of, but it was also how he met his beautiful wife, Tiffany. To him, Crossfit is not just fitness, but it is a community. A community that no matter what people’s individual’s goals they are all there for the same reason, to get better at their fitness and to push those around them to be better. Mathies is always trying to improve his knowledge of movements, nutrition, and everything in between to make himself a better coach not only for himself but for his athletes as well. Just like with his fitness, he strives to be the best coach possible as he can be.

JANESSA BRINDZA

COACH

Janessa Brindza was born and raised in Port Angeles, Washington and grew up playing competitive softball and soccer. She went on to play softball at the University of Missouri graduating in 2006 with a business degree. Her and her husband (Will)  missed the culture and community of playing team sports, and it was their love of being challenged and part of a team that drew them to CrossFit in 2010. It was their passion to help educate and inspire athletes both young and old to achieve things they might never have thought attainable that pushed them to open CrossFit Wilsonville, in Wilsonville, Oregon in 2012. Having the privilege to serve as a positive influence that might lead to improving someone’s health is incredibly satisfying.  Their family is 100% involved in the CrossFit culture and when they are not in the gym you will find them outside on the golf course or throwing some type of ball around.

KENNY GAYOSO

COACH

Kenny Gayoso has a passion to help transform and elevate others through functional fitness, fitness psychology and human movement/mobility. He has personally impacted people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Helping them to obtain a healthier way of life and optimal mindset for success in all aspects of life!Fitness became a huge part of Kenny’s life through the challenges of balancing a high stress military career and raising a family. In 2008, Kenny found himself frustrated with his health and fitness realizing he had to make a change! His life and fitness career was changed forever when he was introduced to CrossFit by a military friend.
Kenny found a community in CrossFit that helped and supported him to improve his health and fitness immediately and find the work life balance.  Kenny the pursues his CrossFit Level 1 Certification to help others transform their lives’ through fitness as he had. After moving to Arkansas on a military assignment, Kenny and his wife Mikki opened and operated their own CrossFit Affiliate Gym for four years. Kenny later became a CrossFit Mobility Trainer, Certified Personal Trainer and CrossFit Level 2 Trainer. Kenny also has extensive knowledge and training adolescent athletic developmental and specializes in working with special needs children. Kenny’s passion is to teach and enable others to reach there full potential in faith, mindset and fitness!

Marley Oldham Carnes, MS, RDN, CSCS, CF-L2

COACH

Marley Oldham Carnes has helped hundreds of people transform their lives through improved fitness and proper nutrition. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a background as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and CrossFit Level 2 Coach. She holds Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from Texas A&M University, a Masters in Nutrition and completed an intensive professional internship and passing of a national board exam. She discovered her love for CrossFit in 2009 and had the honor of serving our military members deploying as a civilian U.S. Navy “Fit Boss”. She met her husband, John Carnes, in Yokosuka, Japan at the CrossFit gym on base where she was the Navy Fitness Director. She is a small business owner (Marley Nutrition and Fitness) in her hometown of Frisco, Texas. She works as a medical provider for nutritional counseling with a focus on fueling for optimal performance, the importance of eating patterns and mental health, and also specializes in weight management.  Her passion and commitment is to motivate and help others implement realistic and individualized healthy habits that are sustainable and enjoyable!

Michael (Mike) Bohn

Owner / Coach

Mike has an extensive background in bicycle racing including mountain, road, and cyclocross disciplines. Mike’s passion for CrossFit developed from the role it played in his personal recovery after having been hit by an F150 at 45mph while standing on the side of the road. Needing to regain the ability to function day-to-day Mike enrolled in CrossFit and quickly became an ambassador for the program. His passion lies in helping others of all fitness levels discover the incredible things they can accomplish physically through this program!
